Celebrating World Puppetry Day 2025: A Year of Milestones, Messages, and Global Impact
From ground-breaking projects like THE HERDS to exclusive messages from leading artists, we celebrate the power of puppetry in shaping our world and inspiring change.
What a year it’s been for the world of puppetry! Celebrations for the British Puppet Guild’s 100th anniversary, a monumental occasion that highlighted the rich history and ongoing impact of puppetry. Then came THE HERDS, a ground-breaking public art and climate action initiative that has been sweeping across the globe. Alongside numerous nominations and awards, this year has been filled with moments of recognition and celebration. And of course, we’re proud to have helped launch BrUNIMA’s new website, marking a fresh chapter for the community—though not without its challenges. As we reflect on these milestones, we are also reminded of the resilience and adaptability that defines our art form.
Today, as we celebrate World Puppetry Day 2025, we reflect on the artistic and social impact of puppetry, from the past year’s ground-breaking projects to the future of this dynamic craft. We’re also honoured to share exclusive messages from three visionary artists: Linda Blanchet, Stefan Kaegi, and Zaven Paré, who delve into how puppetry continues to evolve in a world increasingly shaped by technology and environmental urgency.
